The pilot plant is equipped for carrying out multitude unit operations characteristic of the food industry.  The equipment is used for teaching, and scale up studies by faculty and extension.  Major equipment units include: Dryers (Spray Dryer, Drum Dryer, Fluid Bed Dryer, Tunnel Dryer, Freeze Dryer). Single effect evaporators (Agitated Falling Film Evaporator, Falling Film Evaporator, kettle Evaporator).  Heat treatment (Plate Heat Exchangers, Still Autoclave, Rotating Autoclave, Electro heater -Ohmic heater UHT). Cooling systems (Blast Freezer Tunnel, Scraped surface Freezer). Baking (Tweedy Mixer for Dough, Controlled Baking Oven). General: Oil seed extraction, Can sealers, Agglomerattor, Smoking Cabinet, Stephan Vacuum Mixer, Homogenizer (2000 bar), Various High and low Shear Mixers and blenders,Various Centrifuges (batch or continuous type) Various Grinder, Crushers and Millers, U.F Filtration. A series of walk in incubators ranging from 35°C all the way down to 40°C below zero, and sensory testing room with 5 positions are also available.
